Its origins date back to the <strong data-start=\"462\" data-end=\"478\">13th century<\/strong>, although the present building is the result of several reconstruction and expansion phases carried out over the centuries.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"882\">Built on a <strong data-start=\"615\" data-end=\"635\">Latin cross plan<\/strong> with <strong data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"656\">three naves<\/strong>, the church preserves important features of traditional Campanian religious architecture. Its most distinctive element is the magnificent <strong data-start=\"795\" data-end=\"818\">majolica-tiled dome<\/strong>, which has become one of Agerola&#8217;s most recognizable landmarks.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"884\" data-end=\"1169\">After suffering severe damage during the <strong data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"952\">1980 Irpinia earthquake<\/strong>, the church was closed for worship. It later underwent an extensive restoration promoted by the <strong data-start=\"1049\" data-end=\"1119\">Superintendency for the Historical Heritage of Naples and Campania<\/strong>, allowing it to reopen to the public in <strong data-start=\"1160\" data-end=\"1168\">1999<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1171\" data-end=\"1611\">Inside, visitors can admire numerous works of great artistic and devotional value. The most venerated is the <strong data-start=\"1280\" data-end=\"1314\">statue of Our Lady of La Manna<\/strong>, which has been at the heart of local religious devotion for centuries. Other remarkable treasures include a <strong data-start=\"1424\" data-end=\"1482\">14th-century marble sculpture of the Madonna and Child<\/strong> and a <strong data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"1521\">16th-century wooden crucifix<\/strong>, both precious testimonies to Agerola&#8217;s rich historical, artistic and religious heritage.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1613\" data-end=\"1818\">Today, the <strong data-start=\"1624\" data-end=\"1658\">Church of Santa Maria La Manna<\/strong> continues to serve as an important spiritual and cultural landmark for the local community, preserving an invaluable artistic, historical and religious legacy.<\/p>\n<p data-section-id=\"1f33i26\" data-start=\"1820\" data-end=\"1837\"><strong>Did You Know?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1839\" data-end=\"2164\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">According to local tradition, the name <strong data-start=\"1878\" data-end=\"1892\">&#8220;La Manna&#8221;<\/strong> is linked to a miraculous event attributed to the Virgin Mary, which strengthened the devotion of the local community over the centuries.
