Carved out over millennia by water eroding the limestone of the Lattari Mountains, they open up along a spectacular rock face overlooking the valley, offering a truly evocative landscape.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout history, these natural cavities were probably used as temporary shelters and places of refuge for shepherds and wayfarers. Today, they stand as a valuable testament to the area\u2019s untamed natural beauty and are a much-loved destination for hikers, who can admire the imposing limestone cliffs up close and enjoy unique views of the Amalfi Coast and the Lattari Mountains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interesting fact<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to local tradition, the caves are dedicated to Saint Barbara, the patron saint of those who face the dangers of the mountains and the rocks.
