Description

The Church of Saint Nicholas of Bari, located in the hamlet of Ponte, is one of Agerola’s principal places of worship. The building features a bright single nave, enriched with elegant stucco decorations, side altars and a refined high altar in polychrome marble.

Among its most important works of art is the painting of Saint Nicholas of Bari, attributed to the renowned Neapolitan painter Andrea Vaccaro, together with other valuable examples of 17th-century sacred art. Outside, the characteristic historic portico and bell tower reflect the church’s long history, which continues to make it an important religious and cultural landmark for the community of Agerola.
